Le canal du midi

Spreading its 240 kms of tercentenary waterway between Toulouse and Sète crossing by Béziers or Carcassonne, the Canal du Midi, listed as an UNESCO world heritage site in 1996, is the link between Portiragnes-Village and Portiragnes-Plage.
The village is connected by 4 kms of cycle way to the seaside resort, allowing walkers and sportsmen to enjoy an exceptional landscape, in the middle of a natural area colonized by birds, bulls and "Camarguais" horses.
The way bordering the channel allows to discover easily by bicycle exceptional works at a few kilometers east towards Agde or west towards Béziers.
Rental boat, drive boat or barge, floating rooms hosts, the choice is wide to discover the Canal du Midi according to the time available and the budget. Portiragnes is ideal for visiting the most famous french channel in the peaceful shadow of its plane trees
